  • Palermo Falcone-Borsellino (PMO) – further away but with connections to Milazzo.

  • Reggio Calabria (REG) – convenient for travelers coming from Southern Italy.

From Catania Airport, shuttle buses and private transfers take you directly to the port of Milazzo, from where ferries and hydrofoils depart daily to Lipari.

Getting to Lipari by Ferry or Hydrofoil

Once in Sicily, the key step is boarding a boat. Here are the main options:

  • From Milazzo – this is the closest and best-connected port to Lipari. Departures are very frequent with ferries and hydrofoils (journey time: about 1–2 hours).

  • From Messina and Reggio Calabria – connections by fast hydrofoils (about 2 hours).
